DATA LINKS AND TELEMETRIES

IDE’s innovation in Data Links and Telemetries is based in field-proven knowledge and expertise in designing and implementing state-of-the-art waveforms and protocols as well as in the extended embedded software capability.

Data Link Design

INTRACOM Defense Electronics (IDE)
has significant experience in the design,
development, qualification and production
of missile data links and telemetry systems.

These systems are used either in surface-to-air or air-to-air missiles.

IDE’s innovation in its Data Link designs is based on two key features:

  • Field-proven knowledge and expertise in designing and implementing state-of-the-art waveforms and protocols. During the past years IDE has developed waveforms based on customer specific requirements for both missile guidance applications and for its WiWAN Tactical Radio’s product suite. This has given IDE an in depth expertise and capability to design efficient and robust new generation data links.

  • Extended embedded software control capability in the design, offering the following advantages:

    • Reduced R&D cost to new Data Link design
    • Reduced impact from customer requested changes and field testing
    • Re-usability of hardware design for other similar applications with minimal changes

IDE has invested significant resources over the past years in developing wireless communications waveforms and RF link architectures that can be easily tailored for new designs that satisfy customer defined requirements.

Specialized in-house electronics and mechanical design capabilities allow IDE to develop data links with customized mechanical adaptations, featuring also a wide range of digital interfaces, RF transmission frequencies, assembly and antenna form factors, according to specific needs and application requirements.

As a result IDE’s data link assemblies offer the benefits of:

  • State-of-the-art software controlled design
  • Low cost development and rapid development cycle
  • Design flexibility, expandability & upgradeability
  • Link robustness and reliable operation
  • High performance EW immunity
  • Efficient use of radio spectrum
  • Optimization of data rate versus processing gain and jamming rejection
  • Low Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR)

The portfolio of IDE regarding RF Electronic Systems for missile applications includes:

  • Data Link system for the IRIS-T Surface Launched Air Defense System of the German Army, for Diehl BGT Defence.
  • LFK NG Missile Demonstrator Data Link for MBDA Missile Systems aiming at the “Common Missile Front End” concept of the German Army.
  • ESSM Warhead Compatible Telemetry for Raytheon
  • IRIS-T Air-to-Air Missile Telemetry Section comprising various versions of transceiver telemetry systems and missile recording unit for Diehl BGT Defence.
