IDE at the 1st Greek-French Defense Innovation Symposium

IDE participated in the 1st Greek-French Defense Innovation Symposium organized by the Hellenic Center for Defense Innovation in collaboration with the General Directorate for Defense Investments and Armaments of the Hellenic Ministry of Defense (MoD), and the Defense Innovation Agency of France, on 12 and 13 December 2024, at the Biomedical Research Foundation Academy of Athens. The opening speech of the symposium was addressed by the Minister of the Hellenic MoD, Mr. Nikos Dendias, which was followed by that of the Ambassador of France in Greece, Mrs. Laurance Auer.

IDE’s representatives, Dr. Dimitrios Petrantonakis, R&D Programs Manager of New Technologies and Mrs. Stavroula Panagiotidou, Project Leader of Programs Management Dept., had the pleasure to welcome at IDE’s booth  many experts and entrepreneurs in the fields of defense innovation and dual use technologies, as well as officials of the MoDs of both France and Greece, who were informed about the range of the defense products and integrated solutions that IDE provides to the Greek and foreign armed forces. They also presented the work already achieved in EU level in three distinguished European EDF projects NOMAD, COMMANDS and PROTEAS in which both Greek and French entities participate, along with other entities from other EU member States, underlining with the most emphatic way the importance of innovation and collaboration of both Nations in the defense and security sector.

IDE coordinates the consortium of the PROTEAS Project, comprising of 14 partners from 6 EU Member States and Norway, with the significant contribution of the Hellenic MoD which co-funds the Project, with the support of the French, Italian, Belgian and Norwegian MoDs. Within the Project’s scope, IDE focuses mainly on the development of the PROTEAS Energy System, the Intelligence and Sensing SW Platform and the manned/unmanned sea and aerial assets, while it leads the prototyping and testing phases of the project.

In the EDF Project NOMAD, IDE studies and designs critical modules and technology building blocks of the NOMAD system, in the areas of System Architecture, Li-Ion Battery System and Energy Management System; leads the work package “Technology Demonstration”, while IDE is responsible for a NOMAD Technology Demonstrator. The NOMAD consortium, led by EQUIPOS MÓVILES DE CAMPAÑA ARPA S.A.U (Spain), consists of 18 partners from 8 EU Member States and Norway.

In the EDF Project COMMANDS, IDE is responsible for the development of the MANET communication network of COMMANDS. The COMMANDS consortium, led by SENER AEROSPACE (Spain), consists of 21 partners from 10 EU Member States.
