Joint Development Programs

IDE’s experience in national and multinational Joint Development Programs covers the complete product development life cycle from operational requirements capture to qualification.

Through participation in Joint Development Programs, IDE’S engineering team has developed excellence and innovation skills along with professional experience to design innovative products and to undertake effectively various types of multinational projects ranging from overall system down to subunit level achieving rapid development cycles by assuring to the highest degree compliance to the product specifications.

IDE has demonstrated excellent performance in all these projects, including on-time delivery and quality, recognized through the established long-term partnerships with major defense companies and a number of certificates, awards and letters of appreciation.

An indicative list of joint development programs follows:

IRIS-T

IDE has participated in the Full Scale Development of the IRIS-T missile as a member of the IRIS-T consortium, under a contract with Diehl BGT. In this program IDE was responsible for the design, development, manufacturing, testing and qualification of the Power Supply and the Telemetry Section of the missile and for the Field Test Equipment. All these items are under production and fully operational.

IRIS-T SL

IDE has participated in the Full Scale Development of the Uplink System (Data Link) of the IRIS-T SL Missile, under a contract with Diehl BGT. IDE is responsible for the design, development, qualification and series production of the UpLink System (Data Link) of the missile. The IRIS-T SL Data Link have been successfully tested and operated during the recent Field Trials of the IRIS-T SL Missile.

ESSM – Envolved SeaSparrow Missile Program

IDE participated in the ESSM (Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile) program for upgrading the NATO Sea Sparrow RIM-7 sea-air missile system. In the framework of this program IDE has designed an S-band Telemetry transmitter. This compact transmitter is designed to operate in harsh environments e.g. for missile applications. It is based on a reconfigurable Software Defined Radio architecture and supports IRIG-STD-106-11 STD at high bit rates up to over the air. The unit is designed to provide high power in a very small volume. This is accomplished by using a compact architecture and highly efficient components.  IDE has also redesigned the ESSM Block I Digital Processor based on system on chip (SoC) technologies  for low power and high performance systems.

LFK Missile Systems

IDE participated in the realization of a Data Link Demonstrator of the Common Frontend (a guidance unit for general use in different guided missiles) for LFK

NAMFI – ECDS

After an international tender, the design of the new Enhanced Control and Display System (ECDS) has been awarded to INTRACOM DEFENSE. ECDS supports exercises with real ammunition of ground-to-air and ground-to- ground weapons defense systems for the armed forces of the NATO member countries. The system interfaces with a large number of peripheral systems and unmanned flying targets and provides in real time, consolidated and reliable tactical image of the field of operations to the NAMFI operators. The new design is based on state of the art technologies for data processing and geographical display of information.

The system has been successfully delivered to NATO Missile Firing Installation (NAMFI).
The new system has been used with excellent results during the joint air defense exercise conducted by the Armed Forces of Germany and the Netherlands.

IDE has gained extensive know-how in:

  • Generating complex, real-time, unified tactical pictures
  • Radar communication protocols (ASTERIX, RDIF) & interfaces
  • Data fusion solutions.
