Waveform Design



Designing a baseband waveform for wireless applications
is considered one of the most challenging engineering tasks,
as it has to take into account the following:




  • Wireless channel dynamics
  • Operating frequency: Greatly affects channel dynamics such as perceived by receiver Doppler effects
  • Available bandwidth for the application
  • Spectrum mask requirements
  • Operating range and link availability requirements
  • Target BER and/or PER requirements
  • Expected jamming and interference scenarios
  • Link Architecture (e.g. Point-to-Point or Point-to-Multipoint)
  • Transmit power availability
  • Security
  • Application specific SWAP (Size Weight And Power) parameters.
