Contract of INTRACOM Defense Electronics for the Upgraded version of WiSPR intercommunication System

December 12, 2011: INTRACOM Defense Electronics signed a contract with Diehl BGT Defence (DBD), as main contractor to the German Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement (BWB), for the new upgraded version of the WiSPR-Wireless LAN for the German program SPRINT. This program involves the integration and evaluation of three prototype military vehicles with advanced network centric technologies’ systems and sensors.

The upgraded version of WiSPR-Wireless LAN provides a variety of new features such as dual frequency band operation and ad-hoc routing capability. In addition, the program foresees the integration and wireless transfer of biometric data for the dismounted soldier over WiSPR-Wireless LAN as well as WiSPR integration with the new German Software Defined Radio (SVFuA).

WiSPR-Wireless LAN is the result of INTRACOM Defense Electronics’ multi-year investment in Research and Development on tactical military communications. WiSPR system is widely known for its internationally leading performance in the area of Dynamic Noise Reduction (DNR) and for its unique architecture, capable to provide a Secure Wireless Local Area Network embedded in the intercom functionality, constituting an integrated communications platform for voice, data and video transfer.
