INTRACOM Defense Electronics Advanced Communications System deployed by the Hellenic Navy

WISPR-Net, INTRACOM Defense Electronics new advanced-technology communications system’s Final Acceptance Tests (SAT) conducted by the Hellenic Navy, were successfully concluded in operational conditions. The system deployment is in the frame of the modernisation of the four (4) Fast Attack Crafts (FAC). The Hellenic Navy has selected WISPR-Net after an international competition, in which prominent international companies participated. The contract, signed in 2004, is executed excellently and within schedule.

WISPR-Net communications system has been fully developed by INTRACOM Defense Electronics. It is an integrated advanced technology communications system, which supports high-speed data transfer, manages communication of every type of information with a unified manner for the users, thus providing the capability of any type of information and data exchange, within the ship as well as externally. WISPR-Net can meet the operational needs of all types of naval vessels, regardless of size, supporting even broadband communication systems, whilst constitutes the communication basis for the implementation of a command, control and communications system. INTRACOM Defense Electronics intends to offer WISPR-Net system as an integrated communications solution to the Hellenic Navy New Frigates program, as well as to new shipbuilding and modernisation programs concerning naval vessels in the international market. 

It is worth mentioning that INTRACOM Defense Electronics, with 60% of scientific personnel, has developed significant activities in intercommunication advanced-technology systems. The company already manufactures a significant part of NATO AWACS aircraft intercommunication system. Moreover, Hellenic as well as German, Czech and Spanish Armed Forces use WISPR technology, which has been incorporated in complex weapon systems for the international market, in cooperation with international leading companies, such as German Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and Diehl BGT Defense as well as Swedish SAAB AB.
