New Contract for NATO AWACS Aircraft

In the frame of an international tender, IDE (INTRACOM Defense Electronics) signed an agreement with BOEING for participation in the upgrade program of NATO Airborne Warning & Control System (AWACS) aircraft. Within the frame of the contract, which amounts to 2.5 mil USD, IDE will manufacture specialized subsystems of AWACS aircraft and deliveries will be completed by mid-2017.

The CNS/ATM upgrade program (Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/ Air Traffic Management) gives emphasis on digital flight deck and avionics that provide for future growth and enhanced operation, safety and reliability while reducing life cycle costs. The program was initiated by the NATO Programme Management Organization (NAPMO) and BOEING is the prime contractor of the project, whose original planning provides its implementation in other early warning aircraft of the same type.
