March 09, 2010: The new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hellenic Aerospace & Defense Industries Group (HASDIG) Mr. George Troullinos, Chief Executive Officer of INTRACOM Defense Electronics, was invited as a speaker to two international conferences that recently took place in Athens.
The first was organized by the European Commission about the strengthening of the European Industries in the defense sector, though the second one was concerning communications, reconnaissance and surveillance as spearhead of modern operations. Participants in the above conferences were representatives from the European Union, the European Defence Agency (EDA), the Aerospace and Defense Industries Association of Europe (ASD), the Hellenic Ministry of National Defense and the local defense manufacturers.
In his speeches, Mr. Troullinos expressed the thoughts and views of HASDIG, regarding the current situation and the future of the Greek defense industries, as well as, of the Small and Medium Enterprises. Towards this direction, Mr. Troullinos made a special reference in the potential problems that will be created by the harmonization of the Greek legislation with the respective European Union Directive in the procurement of defense armament. In this frame, HASDIG is planning a press conference to present analytically the above positions, thoughts and views.
Members of HASDIG are the largest state and privately owned companies among the domestic defense industries, listed in the Defense Material Manufacturers’ Registry, which employ a total of more than 8,000 employees in the defense sector. HASDIG is member and national representative to the Board of Directors of Aerospace and Defense Industries Association of Europe (ASD), which represents the industries of the Aerospace and Defence sector to the contacts and cooperations with the European Defense Agency (EDA) and other institutions and organizations in European level.
